Adult Services Director

Department: Administration
Location: Franklin, TN

Experience in providing services within the nonprofit sector for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities is required.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

The person in this position is responsible for providing direction and oversight for all support services provided to adults. The position is under the supervision of the Executive Director.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Familiarity with all regulations related to Medicaid Waiver, Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Service System, Licensure, Choices, TennCare, and Vocational Rehabilitation funding.
  2. Participate in the development, revision, and/or updating of agency policies and procedures relative to services for adults.
  3. Serve as primary agency liaison for all adult services matters with the DIDD Regional Office, TennCare, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
  4. Serve as an agency liaison to ISC agencies as needed. Coordinate communication, consistency of services, and interpretation of regulations. Be familiar with Service Plan and Cost Plan programs. Ensure that all service recipient cost plans are accurate and timely.
  5. Quality oversight of individual support planning process for all adults served. This includes assuring outcomes and activities are relevant to the service recipients’ lives and assuring there is a consistent process for the implementation of objectives and subsequent documentation of services.
  6. Collaborate with the agency’s Quality Assurance Advisor to monitor staff compliance with electronic documentation requirements.
  7. Facilitate in screening applicants for adult program vacancies and delegate transition planning for application to the aligned Program Manager.
  8. Collaborate with the agency QA/Billing Manager to ensure best practices are consistent across all adult programs.
  9. Serve as Incident Management Coordinator. Determine the make-up of the Incident Management Committee and schedule regular meetings of that committee following the guidelines set by the Regional Office. Follow up on committee recommendations, including notifying the agency Executive Director and Investigator when an event has occurred that will require a follow-up investigation.
  10. Represent the agency at various community events. Participate in agency public relations activities and programs as requested and/or desired.
  11. Familiarity with budgeting procedures related to adult components. Assist team leaders in interpreting the budget and its effect on the day-to-day operations of their programs. Submit budget proposals, as needed, to reflect changes in configurations of services and/or staffing.
  12. Directly supervise the Program Managers of all adult programs. This includes selecting, recruiting, and enforcing appropriate personnel activities. Participate in problem-solving with and providing professional support to Team Leaders and other staff, as necessary.
  13. Serve as a backup when necessary when no one else is available to help the Program Managers fill open shifts.
  14. Participate in transition planning meetings for applicants as needed.
  15. Be conscientious of those services that are provided beyond typical business hours and have a system in place that ensures emergency calls will be received by a person in a position of accountability.
  16. Participate as a member of the agency’s Executive Management Team and in the agency’s Person-Centered Practices objectives.
  17. Physically visit the adult facility-based Day Programs at least once monthly.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the mission of the agency and seven years of related work experience, three of which must have included supervisory responsibilities. Significant additional work experience may be substituted for required education experience and additional education for required work experience. Possess thorough knowledge of regulations and standards applicable to the provision of services and supports to consumers with disabilities. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Must possess flexibility in work scheduling.
